Obituary of Lesley Stewart Kyffin

On February 22, Lesley Kyffin passed away in peace and dignity at the Ottawa General Hospital, at the age of fifty-three, of complications from a surgery.

Lesley was dearly loved by her late father Anthony and will be fondly remembered by her stepmother Doris, her brothers David and Jonathan, her sisters-in-law Anne-Marie and Angie and her nieces and nephews Eleanor, Jack, Patrick and Mia, as well as by the members of their extended families who met her over the decades.

Her passing also leaves in mourning the Chapman family - Melissa, Billy, Paige, Mikki and Willy - with whom Lesley lived since 2021. She was a huge part of their daily life, they considered her a member of their family and her absence will be keenly felt by all.

Lesley will also be remembered by her relatives in the United Kingdom, including her brothers Robert and Matthew.

Lesley’s cheerful disposition and appreciation for life’s simple pleasures won her so many friends across Eastern Ontario. Her family would like to thank everyone who contributed to making her life what it was, and in particular the Open Hands organization and team whose work arranging for Lesley’s care over the years was invaluable and deeply appreciated.

A celebration of Lesley’s life will be held on Tuesday March 4 at the Laurent Hill Funeral Home at 709 Principale Street, Casselman, ON, K0A 1M0. Visitation will be as of 11am, followed by a commemorative ceremony at 12noon and then a light luncheon for those in attendance. In lieu of sending flowers, mourners are invited to make a donation in Lesley’s memory to the Ottawa branch of Special Olympics Ontario or to Open Hands.
